Highland Lakes HOA

Highland Lakes Amenities

Highland Lakes offers its members extensive sun-and-fun fitness opportunities: Besides unlimited free golf on our 27-hole executive golf course, residents enjoy the use of tennis, pickleball, bocce and shuffleboard courts and an Olympic size geothermal heated pool and spa.

For a slower pace, enjoy an extensive lending library, cards and games, billiards, arts and crafts, and woodworking. Or consider a leisurely exploration of Lake Tarpon, with a lunch stop at a local lakeside restaurant, on one of our two pontoon boats docked at our rustic lakeside Lodge. All of these are available for members’ use any time with no additional charge.

Of equal importance to our members is a diverse offering of leisure activities that foster a strong sense of community and are made possible by volunteer leadership of more than 75 clubs or groups.

Clubhouse & Main Pool

Within the clubhouse you’ll find a lending library; meeting, cards and billiards rooms; kitchen, and multi-purpose auditorium for dances, shows, and more. The spacious lobby invites you to chat with friends over coffee. Step outside to relax in the sun on the seating decks or sheltered in the covered pavilion. You may prefer a dip in the geothermal-heated Olympic size pool and spa.

27-Hole Executive Golf Course

Highland Lakes is blessed with three beautiful Executive 9-hole golf courses named Red, White and Blue. The courses are equivalent in quality to many of the finest courses in the country in care, beauty and play. Our residents and guests never tire of playing them as each course provides differing and interesting challenges. The golf course grounds crew ensures the courses are maintained to the highest levels as recognized by the USGA.

Lodge on Lake Tarpon

The “rustic” Lodge features a large multi-purpose room with beautiful hardwood floors, stone fireplace and a service kitchen. Huge windows in the enclosed porch frame a panoramic view of Lake Tarpon and our two pontoon boats. Outside is a geothermal-heated pool and pool deck with a nearby certified butterfly garden, a patio, picnic tables and grills as well as a horseshoe pitching pit.

Sports on the Courts

Whether its tennis, bocce, pickleball or shuffleboard, “court sports” are popular with members and their guests. Throughout the day you’ll find activity on many of the courts. All courts have lighting for evening play. There’s always time to develop friendships as well as skill. Members are eager to help newbies learn the basics.

Arts & Crafts Building / Annex

Located between the Clubhouse and Tennis Courts, the Arts & Crafts Building (Annex) invites you to broaden your horizons as you make new friends and enjoy the many opportunities to release your creative self on your own or with the help of instructors. Consider ceramics, painting, stained glass, woodworking (in a fully equipped shop) and a potpourri available in Open Studio.

Pontoon Touring Boats

Leave the piloting to our resident volunteer captains, while you relax and enjoy a scenic ride on one of our 24-foot pontoon boats. Listen as the co-captain points out areas of interest, nesting birds, an eagle soaring overhead and may even spin a yarn or two about past residents of lakeside homes. The boats depart and return to the dock at the Lodge on Lake Tarpon. Choose the morning trip, and you’ll enjoy lunch at a local lakeside restaurant before returning. For special events, residents can schedule “special” private boat tours in addition to the regularly scheduled trips.

Social Life

Almost 100 clubs or groups and a busy Activities Committee plan a wide range of social events that bring residents together. From cool casual parties to large dinner/dances and shows, cards and games to Saturday breakfasts, indoor and outdoor activities, or events just because it’s Friday, you’ll find yourself in a dither trying to decide. Fortunately, the Highlander newspaper publishes a monthly calendar and articles to help you plan. Filling up your social calendar and making new friends is easy at Highland Lakes.

RV/Boat Lot on Lake Tarpon

RV and boat enthusiasts enjoy parking their actively used recreational vehicles or watercraft in the RV/Boat Lot. Included in the monthly HOA fee, parking such vehicles in a fenced lot with boat-launch ramp into Lake Tarpon, allows them security and easy access to the water.
